The purpose of this section is to provide a list of activities and costs that can be submitted for Grant Aid, so that you can determine your eligibility. This is split into the following three categories:

Businesses and Activities Eligible for Capital Grants

Non Capital Costs Eligible for Grant Aid in the Agricultural, Horticultural, Agribusiness and Food Sectors

Revenue Grants in the Agricultural, Horticultural and Forestry Sectors


1. Businesses and Activities Eligible for Capital Grants

Subject to some restrictions, the following businesses and activities can apply for grant on capital costs such as land and building purchases, building construction and alteration, plant, equipment and machinery and related professional fees.

Capital costs for investments in the following are potentially eligible for Grant Aid - production, harvesting, lairage, slaughtering, grading, processing, manufacturing, storage, marketing and related activity's, subject to certain restrictions.

1.1 Capital Grants for General Processing and Manufacturing

Capital investments for most processing and manufacturing activities are eligible for grant under the Regional Selective Assistance and Enterprise Grant Schemes.

1.2 Capital Grants for Livestock Marketing and Slaughtering

Capital costs for grading, processing, packing, storage and marketing of the following food products are eligible for Grant Aid.

1.10 Capital Grants for Establishing Energy Crop Producer Groups

The following costs are grant aided for establishing Producer Groups growing Short Rotation Coppice for power or heat:

Legal services
Office accommodation and equipment
Staff recruitment
Purchase of planting and harvesting machinery


2. Non Capital Costs Eligible for Grant Aid in the Agricultural, Horticultural, Agribusiness and Food Sectors

The following is a list of potential non capital costs eligible for Grant Aid:

Certain travel and accommodation
Computer hardware and software
Consultancy and professional fees
Developing quality assurance and traceability schemes
Developing new products
Developing and promoting regional food brands
Developing existing co-operatives and marketing groups
Establishment of collaborative marketing co-operatives and marketing groups
Establishing farmer's markets
Feasibility studies
Formation of market intelligence networks
Market research
Marketing, particularly of speciality and organic food products
Marketing literature
Operation of Machinery and Labour Rings
Overheads, consumables and registration fees
Project development and management
Recruitment and salaries of key staff
Staff training
Setting up farm relief and farm management services


3. Revenue Grants in the Agricultural, Horticultural and Forestry Sectors

Energy Crops
- per hectare payments for establishment Miscanthus and Short Rotation Coppice for power or heat generation.

Organic Conversion - per hectare payments for conversion of land to organic production.

Environmental Protection - per hectare and per animal payments for environmental protection.

Woodland - per hectare payments for planting and maintaining woodlands.

Hill Farming - various per hectare payments for hill farming.
